Received mail from solicitors about progress to the legal access for Rob Helsby (Heirloom) and us (Westonlea). Looks like Marty Timmins has agreed conditionally.
Haven’t received a bill so far but the solicitor is charging $300/hour + GST. i guess we all have chosen the wrong careers.
The guts of it is that the surveyors will be contacted to survey and register the road with all land and departments concerned. Peter Burns (the surveyor) will need to peg out accesses north and south through Malcolm Shaw’s (Fairley farm).
What will the name of the road be?….. anybody?
Mun Jok and myself recently walked the back boundaries concerned on Muns last visit.
Spoke to Peter Burns (surveyor). He recommends that we should ensure that the south side proposed access through Malcolm Shaw’s does not cross the corner of Rob Helsby’s to minimise future negotiation problems with future owners. This will mean more to those who have seen where the proposed access was to cut through the corner of Rob Helsby’s land.
What about something simple, like Jalan ? (or maybe Jalan Jindy ?)
(indo for ‘Street’ or ‘Road’ . . )
Its Man from Snowy River country – what about ‘Old regret Way’ or ‘The Overflow’ or ‘Clancy’s mistake’. Check here for other ideas http://www.middlemiss.org/lit/authors/patersonab/poetry/snowy.html
i like Jalan (Indonesian) means roadway. “Banjo Patt” stuff has all been done before. i recon that we have the opportunity to turn this into our own legendary stuff with a link to real roots. Don’t forget yr Germanic and kellick influences.
You may have to go lower down the hillside but the grade should still be ok shouldn’t it?
You’re right, i’ve had a look and it is do-able, but it may not be a s staight as i would like. A little more compicated for Peter Burns doing his survey sums.
